After the highly successful festival in Greenwich during the summer of 2017, we're getting started on some other gigs across London to showcase the best of the UK's improvised music scene. This first one at The Star of Kings is gonna be a good one!

The Moostak Trio, a London group set at exploring the riches within the world of instrumental improvised music. Formed through the harmonious connection between long standing friends and collaborators Harry Christelis, Andrea Di Biase, & Dave Storey, the ensemble seeks out the soft and ambient tones within their original compositions and arrangements, interjected with moments of fire and intensity. Space within the music is key, and is used to instigate highly interactive conversations between the three distinct voices; voices that draw their inspiration from many different places. From Bill Frisell to Radiohead, John Coltrane to The Beatles, RJ Miller to Connan Mockasin, a wealth of listening has brought this band to be what it is.

This fine trio is led by the dynamic London-based drummer Dave Storey. His trio explores a wide mix of new orignal music and classic jazz repertoire, with interaction, intensity, and playfulness being the key focus. Some key influences include Joe Lovano, Joe Henderson and John Coltrane.
This gig will be their first outing test driving new original material for a few up-coming EP/video releases.
Dave studied Jazz Drum-kit at the Royal Academy of Music with many influential drummers such as Martin France, Gene Calderazzo, Tim Giles, Jeff Williams and Jim Hart. Since completing his masters he has quickly established himself as one of the busiest drummers on the London jazz scene playing regularly at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The 606 & The Vortex Jazz Club.
The trio is completed by two of London's finest and most in demand players, James Allsopp (Golden Age of Steam, Nostalgia 77) and Conor Chaplin (Dinosaur, Flying Machines) who bring a wealth of experience through years of playing with many of the world's top musicians such as Kenny Wheeler, Django Bates, Stan Sulzmann and Iain Ballamy.
